Brazos County Commissioners approve new funding for former Bryan ISD admin building renovations
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – At Tuesday’s Commissioner’s Court meeting, Brazos County leaders approved new funding for the former Bryan ISD administration building renovations.
The increase of $255,576 will go towards windows and other features of the design. Commissioners agreed to demolish the building after a feasibility study discovered remodeling the building was not a viable option. They plan to build a three-story facility with a parking garage on-site. It will also include a sky bridge over N Texas Avenue, connecting the building and the existing courthouse.
“We had some discussion and said why not look at putting some windows in there since we’re taking the outside off,” said Judge Duane Peters.
In addition to the new windows that will be added to the building, more design changes are in the works.
“Some of this is part of that some is to rearrange the old sanctuary which will be gutted and be a two-story,” added Peters.
This is the fourth amendment for this contract and it now totals over $1.6 million.
