Rotary Club to pass out free naloxone kits

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – In hopes of preventing overdose deaths, a local nonprofit is handing out free naloxone kits.

The Rotary Club of Aggieland will hold a free Narcan distribution on Saturday, June 22 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at LifeChurch in the Tejas Center behind HEB on Villa Maria in Bryan.

Naloxone is a medicine that rapidly reverses an opioid overdose. It attaches to opioid receptors and reverses and blocks the effects of other opioids.

Rotary is partnering with Texas A&M University Health, which will offer education and training at the event. You do not have to go through the training to get a kit.

The Rotary Club of Aggieland has 150 kits to give away.

The distribution event is targeted to parents of teens, teachers and counselors, and Spanish translators will be available for the training.
