Bryan ISD sends two students off to the State Special Olympics

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Bryan ISD held a spirit walk Thursday at Rudder High School to celebrate and send off two of the district’s students heading to San Antonio to compete in the State Special Olympics.

The State Special Olympics started on Thursday and will go through Sunday. The Bryan Lions Special Olympics Team consists of Jose Martinez and Donathan Lang. According to the district, Martinez is a student at Rudder who will compete in track and long jump while Lang is from Bryan and will compete in running and throwing.

“We all feel happy and proud of ourselves and we want to thank them so that we can win,” Martinez said.

“I’m most excited about is going to San Antonio with all of these guys,” Lang said looking around at those who participated in the spirit walk.

Students walked from a hallway outside into the front circle drive as the two got ready to go on the trip. Rudder High’s drumline, cheerleaders and the Rangerettes were part of the send-off.
