Sam Houston Elementary students become ‘Living Statues’
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Sam Houston Elementary students dressed up as famous Texans at their Living Statues program Wednesday.
Parents were invited as 4th graders presented their character and gave a full history of their accomplishments and life works.
“It’s super cool because all the students get to learn more about their people, and get experience speaking in front of people,” said 4th grader Ceattle Atchley.
Some of the Texas figures students portrayed included football legend Mean Joe Green, and country music icon George Strait.
“We’ve read about them and watched things about them and this is information that will stick with the students forever,” said 4th grade team lead, Hailey Gregory.
Other grades were also invited to join the fun and learn about the historic figures.
