Community members celebrate women’s heart health at the Go Red for Women luncheon

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – Community members gathered at the Hilton College Station Friday to celebrate women’s health.

During the Go Red for Women luncheon, survivors strutted their stuff on the catwalk for a fashion show segment.

“As women, we tend to push off symptoms and not care for ourselves because we’re so busy caring for everyone else so it’s really important to educate our community,” said Go Red for Women Luncheon chair, Leslie Martinek.

The luncheon also featured an educational portion featuring a panel of experts who answered questions and gave advice on how women can lower their risk of heart disease.

“We want all of our ladies to know what to look for and be aware so they can live long healthy lives,” added Martinek.

Martinek said that women should get regular annual checkups, for more information you can visit Heart.org
