Hearne police share more insight into incident outside supermarket
HEARNE, Texas (KBTX) – Police are sharing more information about an incident Saturday evening outside a supermarket store that has been circulated on social media.
A woman pumping gas at the market on West Brown Street said a group of people approached her and one of them became “very hostile.” She shared what happened in a post on Facebook that’s been shared by several hundred people.
Police were able to obtain surveillance video of the incident which led them to the identity of the vehicle owners.
“Through collaboration with the Pflugerville Police Department, it was discovered one of the people involved had experienced a mental crisis and was being consoled by family members who were attempting to return her to the family’s vehicle,” said Sgt. Detective Joe Brown. “Due to a language barrier, witnesses were unable to determine the group’s intentions.”
Hearne police confirmed that the person experiencing the crisis has since received medical attention.
Officers said this was an isolated incident with no apparent threat to the public.
