BCS Salvation Army announces new capital campaign
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The Bryan-College Station Salvation Army hosted its 13th Annual Doing The Most Good Luncheon Thursday and announced a new capital campaign.
It’s named Center of Hope. This is a $9.1 million campaign to build a new social services and residential facility.
It will offer an administration and family service center, transitional housing, a youth service center, a client-choice food pantry, a chapel, a commercial kitchen, a congregate dining room, case worker meeting rooms, laundry rooms, lounge areas, computer labs, classrooms and administrative offices.
According to Salvation Army captains Luis Villanueva and Marianne Villanueva, the current Bryan facility will be torn down to make room for the Center of Hope.
“This campaign is to give hope for the people that don’t have hope, so that’s the main thing for us,” Marianne said. “Give them the hope that, yes, you can get out of your situation or sometimes people just get in the same cycle. We want to help them to just get out of the cycles and be better.”
The captains hope to start construction at the end of 2024 and said the new center is needed to meet the demands of the growing community.
“We want to make it a reality for our community,” Luis Villanueva said.
