Sunday storms brought buckets of rainfall to the Brazos Valley

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Training clusters of strong to severe storms pounded the Brazos Valley with rainfall. Repeated storms quickly led to flash flooding through the overnight, with water slow to recede in many areas Monday morning. This flooding prompted school delays in both North Zulch and Iola ISD, and Madisonville ISD to close for the day on Monday. In addition to school closures, there were many road closures due to high water and flooding. A full list of road closures can be found here.

This is likely the biggest issue of the night (and potentially next week) for B/CS. Big time heavy rain falling and continues to fall. https://t.co/19AzEVbCvc

On average, Bryan-College Station accumulates around 2.87″ of rain for the entire month of April, so far this month at Easterwood Airport we have collected over 10″. As of now, this is the THIRD WETTEST April in our 142 years of record keeping. We have some spotty rain chances as we close out the month and even more, as May begins on Wednesday.
