Tours begin for the St. Jude Dream Home in College Station
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) -The St. Jude Dream Home is opening up to the public for tours beginning this weekend.
“It’s amazing,” Martha Vilas with Ranger Home Builders said. “We saw this day 1 when it was just dirt, and to see every little part and piece come together. It’s truly awesome.”
This project was made possible thanks to several organizations and businesses coming together, all to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
“It’s a home but it tells a story too,” Vilas said. “It tells a story of a lot of St. Jude patients and their experience building something new again, building something whole. I think there is a lot of meaning behind the walls of this house and the things that are inside.”
The house has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, plus a bonus room upstairs, but there are special tributes to the mission of St. Jude all throughout the home.
“There’s some art on the wall that is St. Jude patient art that the St. Jude team has turned into virtual reality art, and so it’s something that when you are here in person you are able to scan it with your phone and you can virtually see the art come to life,” Matt Jones with Ranger Home Builders said.
Reserving a $100 ticket helps support research and care of children battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.
“What St. Jude is all about is family and so we really wanted to make this home feel like a family lives here,” said Tiffany Bullard of Bullard & Browning. “The whole community has come together. It’s really been a blessing to be a part of.”
Just by going to the open house, you can enter to win a golf cart donated by Bock Realty Group.
The home is located at 6212 Daytona Drive in College Station.
Open houses begin this Saturday.
You can come out from 9 am – 5 p.m.
The house will be back open Sunday from 12 – 5 p.m.
Tours run through June 2.
