Weekend Gardener: Celebrating national volunteer week

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – Every year, the month of April is set aside to recognize the hard work of volunteers.

Jayla Fry with the Texas A&M Agrilife Extension is spending national volunteer week recognizing master gardeners.

“They’re highly trained individuals who give back to their community by answering questions, preparing demonstration gardens and anything to help you be successful with your gardening endeavors,” said Fry.

Fry says that volunteering and being a part of the master gardener program is a big deal because the group in Texas is among the largest.

“We are the largest master gardener program in the nation and I’m quite proud of that,” added Fry.
