Grimes County Sheriff’s Office warns of loud explosions

GRIMES COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) – The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of loud explosions expected Thursday, April 25. The warning is on behalf of Gibbons Creek Environmental Redevelopment Group, or GCERG.

GCERG wants to notify the Carlos area that they are intending to fire a test blast around 5 p.m. Thursday at the Lignite Silos. The site is being prepared for demolition.

“The test blast will be four delayed blasts, milliseconds apart, using around 50 lbs. of dynamite. This is only a test and will not bring the silos down,” a release to KBTX said.
