P.A. Smith Hotel to host 3rd Annual Kentucky Derby Experience
NAVASOTA, Texas (KBTX) – The 150th Kentucky Derby is May 4, but you don’t have to be in the state to experience it.
Navasota’s P.A. Smith Hotel is hosting its 3rd Annual Kentucky Derby Experience May 4 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Live races will be shown, and trumpeters will play at the start of each one to match the actual event.
There will also be live music, an artist painting live and southern-style dishes from Red Board Tavern & Table.
The menu will include southern fried chicken, sides and desserts. In addition, burgoo will be on the menu. It’s a derby favorite that can be compared to a stew.
For those wanting a more intimate derby experience, they can visit Hamer’s Speakeasy upstairs. Bartenders will be making the derby’s signature drink, the mint julep.
Attendees will also be able to enjoy drinks from the speakeasy’s daily menu.
While the event is happening, the P.A. Smith Hotel team will host contests for best dressed, best hat and best couple.
The grand prize winner will receive a one-night stay in the hotel’s penthouse suite.
The three-bedroom and two-bathroom suite provides a luxury experience with private speakeasy access and a balcony that overlooks Railroad Street.
