College Station man arrested for allegedly attacking tow truck driver

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – A College Station man has been arrested after he allegedly attacked a man for towing his vehicle.

According to police, on February 3, 2024, a tow truck driver attempted to tow Alvin Griffin’s pickup truck which was parked in a residents-only spot in the 700 block of Dominik Drive.

Police say Griffin went outside and attempted to stop the tow truck driver by trying to get inside the tow truck.

Witnesses told police that when Griffin couldn’t get in, he went to his pickup and grabbed a metal pole. They say he then went back to the tow truck, which had its window rolled down, and stuck the worker in the face.

Investigators say photos of the victim’s face following the incident and video from a camera on the tow truck corroborated what the witnesses told them.

On March 11, a detective spoke with Griffin. He said he did not hit the tow truck driver with the metal pole, but instead stuck the driver’s side door of the tow truck. Investigators say photos of the truck do not show any damage that would corroborate this story.

College Station Police charged Griffin with Assault Causing Bodily Injury. He was booked into jail on April 18. He remains in custody on a $4,000 bond.
