Washington County DA files 4 additional charges against driver in deadly 18-wheeler crash

BRENHAM, Texas (KBTX) – The Washington County District Attorney’s Office has filed more charges against the driver who drove a stolen 18-wheeler into the Texas Department of Public Safety Brenham Office.

Clenard Parker, 42, is now charged with felony murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a public servant, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and criminal mischief. Parker was originally charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury, one count of evading arrest or detention causing serious bodily injury, and one count of unauthorized use of a vehicle.

A total of 14 people were in the DPS building when the 18-wheeler crashed, everyone was injured, and one person died from their injuries at the hospital.

The Texas Rangers are handling the investigation.

The Brenham Driver License Office will remain closed for an undetermined time. Alternative offices are Bryan, Hempstead, and Caldwell. Customers with scheduled appointments at the Brenham Office will be contacted by the DPS Driver License Division.
