Smoking material blamed for College Station apartment fire

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – An apartment building was damaged by a fire early Tuesday morning in College Station.

It happened around 1 this morning in the 1300 block of Barthelow Drive at the Redstone Apartments.

According to College Station firefighters, the fire started on a second-story porch and then extended into the attic.

Everyone was safely evacuated and no injuries were reported.

Investigators say the fire was caused by improper disposal of smoking materials, which typically means something like a cigarette.

🔥 Shoutout to Bryan and CS firefighters. We’ve had two fires since 10 last night and both were knocked down quickly. Could have been much worse with these winds!!! This was around 1 this morning at Redstone Apartments in College Station on Barthelow Drive.
