KinderHill Brew Lab owners shutting down operations to focus on expanding

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – A popular Bryan business is closing its doors.

It’s the final week of operations at KinderHill Brew Lab as the owners, Laura Hill and Jason Kinderman, prepare for construction at their new location. It’s two blocks away at 505 West 31st Street in Bryan.

“It’s definitely bittersweet,” Hill said.

The biergarten opened at 800 South Bryan Avenue in 2021 and has been like a second home for many, according to Hill.

“You can bring everybody out and feel comfortable and spend a couple of hours and not have to feel like it’s more of a formal occasion,” Hill said. “You just go and relax and see everybody that you know.”

For those of age, they could also enjoy unique beers only found in-house.

“One of the weirdest was we made a strawberry pop tart beer, and it was a milkshake IPA, and we were really excited about it but didn’t think anyone would like it and multiple people told us that’s their favorite beer we’ve ever made,” Hill said.

It won’t be long before these brews are back on tap. Construction on the new space will start in the summer, and the owners are hoping to open in the fall.

The space sits on over 2 acres and will provide more outdoor and indoor space.

“We’ll have a tap room, the bar will be inside instead of outside, and we’ll also have the Wild Garlic with us as a brick-and-mortar restaurant,” Hill said.

In addition, there will be more room inside for production.

“We’re gonna be able to make a lot more different beers but also have beers on year round so that’s something we really haven’t been able to do here,” Kinderman said. “We just don’t have the tank space to rotate, but at our new location, we’ll be able to have three or four beers on year round and still rotate a lot of different stuff.”

To celebrate their final days at the current location, Kinderman and Hill are hosting a Moving Party.

It’ll run from Thursday to Sunday.

“We have one of our beers left, so we’ll bring in a lot of guest taps of beers from other breweries that we love and that we know everybody here will love as well just to get together one last time and say our goodbyes to this space,” Hill said.
