Get rid of your household hazardous waste Saturday

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Looking to get rid of household items you can’t put in the trash? The City of Bryan is holding a Household Hazardous Waste and Computer Collection Event.

This event is free for Brazos County residents and will be held rain or shine.

Accepted items include aerosol cans, automobile fluids, batteries, computers, cooking oil, cleaning agents, light bulbs, oil and filters, paint, chemicals and televisions.

You can also donate new or gently used children’s books and blankets to the United Way of the Brazos Valley’s Books and a Blanket program.

Items not accepted are medications, household garbage, appliances/freon-containing units, tires, ammunition, 55-gallon drums, sharp needles and business-generated waste.

Bring your household materials in the original containers with labels intact, and do not mix products. Label materials that are not in the original packages and secure them to prevent tipping or leaking. Products should be placed in the trunk or bed of your vehicle, not in the passenger area. You must also stay in your vehicle while staff members unload your items.

It’s happening Saturday, April 20, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Texas A&M University Services Building. The entrance to the facility is on Harvey Road, east of Veterans Park and Athletic Complex.
