Texas A&M Forest Service awards $1.3 million to rural volunteer fire departments
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The Texas A&M Forest Service held the second of three funding meetings for the Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program for fiscal year 2024 on Tuesday, April 2.
The Forest Service awarded 74 grants totaling $1.3 million.
Whitehall Community Volunteer Fire Department in Grimes County was among the recipients getting $10,000 for training aids.
Since launching in 2001, the Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program has awarded more than $350 million to volunteer fire departments in Texas.
