DPS Troopers investigating fatal crash on State Highway 105

GRIMES COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) -Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are investigating a two-vehicle fatality crash on state Highway 105 near County Road 244.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates that around 7:43 a.m. Friday, a 2015 Freightliner truck was traveling eastbound. DPS reports a 2021 Nissan passenger car was traveling westbound, crossed the center line, and struck the Freightliner head-on.

The driver of the Nissan, Kaylin Corbin, 29, of Benbrook, and a 3-year-old passenger were transported to CHI St. Joesph Regional Health Hospital with suspected serious injuries. A 4-year-old passenger was transported by medical helicopter to Memorial Herman with suspected serious injuries. The front seat passenger, Jon Archer, 31, of Benbrook, was pronounced deceased on the scene by Grimes County Justice of the Peace Mark Laughlin.

The driver of the Freightliner was not injured.

This is an ongoing investigation.
