Houston post office renamed after murdered Fort Cavazos soldier
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – A post office in Houston now bears the name of fallen Army Specialist Vanessa Guillen.
Guillen, 20, was murdered while serving at Fort Hood in 2020.
The base has since been renamed to Fort Cavazos.
The crime led to major changes in the miliary, bringing attention to the Army’s failure to initially fully investigate sexual harassment allegations she reported experiencing.
The lack of attention her case received once she went missing in 2020 received national attention.
The Houston post office in now called the Vanessa Guillen Post Office Building.
It’s located near her former high school.
