Police investigating the use of ‘date rape drugs’ by someone at Northgate bars
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The Texas A&M University Police Department says it has received reports of date rape drugs being used at Northgate bars in College Station.
According to an advisory shared by UPD on Tuesday, the reports were made to police on Friday and Monday.
“In both cases, the victims stated that incapacitating agents were placed into their drinks while attending bars in the Northgate District in the early morning hours on March 29, 2024,” said police.
The person or people responsible for doing this have not been identified and no other details are being shared by law enforcement at this time.
Students are encouraged to remain alert and practice the following safety tips:
Don’t drink from a can or bottle that you did not open yourselfAvoid punch bowls or drinks that are being passed in a group settingDo use your own cup with a lid and a strawDon’t leave your drink unattended. If you leave your drink to dance, talk to friends, or use the restroom, throw it out and get a new oneIf your drink has unusual taste or appearance, like a salty taste or unexplained residue, throw it outWatch out for your friends and ask them to watch out for you. Have a plan to check in with each other at set timesIf your friend appears intoxicated, gets sick, passes out, is having trouble walking or breathing, do what you need to do to make sure your friend is safe. Call 911 in case of an emergency
