George Strait concert officially announced for June 15 at Kyle Field

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – After months of speculation, The King himself made the news official on Tuesday morning: George Strait will headline a concert at Kyle Field this June.

The concert will take place on Saturday, June 15, and tickets go on sale today. Donors to the 12th Man Foundation have been told they will be invited to a donor presale event from 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 19 to Thursday, March 21.

Conroe native Parker McCollum and singer Catie Offerman will round out the concert’s lineup, which stands to break U.S. concert attendance records.

Strait’s final concert during The Cowboy Rides Away Tour at AT&T Stadium in Arlington hosted a crowd of 104,793, a smaller crowd than each of Kyle Field’s top ten most-attended football games. Temporary floor seating is expected to be added at Kyle Field for the Strait concert.

George will play the FIRST EVER concert at Kyle Field on June 15. Joining him are fellow Texans, @ParkerMcCollum & @CatieOfferman. This will be the one & only show in Texas this year. Tickets on sale Thursday, Mar 28 at 10AM CT.

The Grateful Dead currently hold the record for the largest ticketed concert in U.S. history, welcoming 107,019 fans in Englishtown, NJ, in 1977. Compared to the most attended football games at Kyle Field, the Grateful Dead only notch a fifth-place standing.

The concert will take place exactly one week after Kyle Field will host an epic Mexico vs. Brazil soccer match on June 8. Tickets for the soccer game at Kyle Field go on sale through www.SomosLocales.com on April 5 at 10 a.m. Fans are encouraged to pre-register on the website for future ticket information and the opportunity to have first access to ticket inventory for all venues.
