Be Remarkable: Isabel Izzy Serna is praised for her work at College Station High School
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – Every other week here on KBTX we recognize remarkable people in our community.
It’s an initiative we’ve been doing for a couple of years now with Daniel Stark Injury Lawyers.
This week we put the spotlight on a beloved staff member at College Station High School.
Her name is Isabel Izzy Serna.
“So Izzy has been with us from the very beginning. She helped us open this building and she has served in this capacity as an instructional assistant,” said Principal Justin Grimes, who says her role in the Special Education department is a critical one.
“She shows up to work every day with a passion and a heart for our Cougar family,” said Grimes.
Mrs. Serna has been here at the school since day one and was doing this kind of work down in the Valley before she made the move to College Station High School.
“I do have a Bachelor’s Degree, it’s actually in health administration, but I love the kids, and every year I say this is the last year, but then another kiddo comes in and he steals my heart, and so then I’m here another four years. And so that’s why I’m still here. I do it for them,” said Serna.
Mrs. Serna was nominated for this week’s Be Remarkable award by her friend Mackenzie Wick, who says Izzy’s patience in love with the students has had a lasting impact on them and their families.
“She is always on her toes, always ready, and always given 100% for all her kiddos and so I just think that this is something that she deserves,” said Wick.
The “Be Remarkable” award is a joint initiative between KBTX-TV and Daniel Stark Injury Lawyers.
