Pink Martini and OPAS bring swing music to Aggieland

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Get ready for a night of diverse music with Texas A&M OPAS that is sure to satisfy the soul of every music lover.

Anne Black, the Executive Director of OPAS joined First News at Four Monday to discuss the big show, and what is coming for the rest of the season.

She describes the music as traditional, but with a bit of a twist.

“They’re a swing band, so you’re going to hear a lot of film music and war music from the 40s and 50s, all those war tunes everybody knows. But they are also multi-lingual, so they’re singing in 25 different languages,” said Black.

She also discussed one of the bigger shows that will be held in June, which is a pretty busy time for Aggieland, between the Mexico vs. Brazil friendly and George Strait’s Kyle Field concert.

“We still have one program from this season that had to be moved from September to June. It’s Come From Away which is one of our big Broadway shows that people have been anticipating,” said Black.
