Brazos County officials certify primary election results

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Brazos County election officials are working to ensure the accuracy of the election.

After last Tuesday’s primary election, six precincts were chosen for a partial manual count of ballots.

Texas state law requires only three locations to be counted but local officials randomly selected more to ease the minds of voters.

“We decided we would unbeknownst to anyone count 3 other precincts that wouldn’t be picked until after the election was over so there’s no way anyone can know ahead of time,” said Brazos County Judge, Duane Peters.

More than 1,400 votes were counted by teams from both Republican and Democratic parties.

“We counted the votes and it came out exactly as the election equipment said it was,” added Peters.

Judge Peters says this will become protocol for future elections as well.
