Suspect dead following officer-involved shooting in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) – Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an officer-involved shooting around 8 p.m. Monday.

Multiple agencies, including members of the Houston Police Department, Harris County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety, were investigating a suspect involved in multiple robberies, according to a news release on the incident. The robberies took place in Fort Bend, Harris and Montgomery Counties.

Investigators said the suspect arrived at a liquor store in the 26800 Block of I-45 Monday night. Law enforcement officers witnessed the suspect commit an aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and attempted to stop the suspect. The suspect ignored commands and ran to the back of the building, displaying a firearm. Multiple officers fired, hitting the suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Rangers and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the incident.

The name of the suspect has not been released.
