DPS shares information about vehicle pileup on Highway 79

HEARNE, Texas (KBTX) – The Texas Department of Public Safety has shared details of a vehicle pileup that happened Sunday afternoon on US 79 at the Brazos River in Robertson County.

It happened around 3 p.m. and while several people were taken to hospitals, all survived the crash, said troopers.

An investigation revealed a 2018 Ford F350 towing a trailer was traveling northeast on the highway when the trailer “sustained a defect” and went into the southbound lanes.

As a result, three vehicles that were going in the opposite direction struck the trailer.

The other three vehicles were a 2015 Dodge Ra 3500, a 2015 Kia Sorento, and a 202020 Kia Soul.
