Friends of the Chamber Music presents Quartetto di Cremona
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – Friends of the Chamber Music is presenting Quartetto di Cremona Thursday night as part of its concert series.
The quartet will be performing at 7:00 p.m. located at A&M United Methodist on University Drive. According to the musicians, they’ll be performing music from two Italian romantic composers, Giacomo Puccini and Ottorino Respighi, along with music by Franz Schubert. The performance is free and parking will be available around the church.
Quartetto di Cremona has been performing together since 2000. They say they play all around the world and only play in the United States twice a year.
“We play the music from the great composers and we teach a lot we have an academy in Cremona where we’ve been teaching for 12 years now. We have many students coming from Italy and abroad and that’s our life,” Cristiano Gualco, Quartetto di Cremona musician said.
Gualco said their agency organized the concert.
“It’s not the first time for us in Texas actually, we’ve been playing a lot here, but first time here in this nice city,” Gualco said.
With the performance about ready to start, Gualco said they are excited about playing for the BCS residents.
“It is always wonderful to meet new audiences and to see what they think about particularly our Italian music. It’s normally very successful. We are always looking forward to seeing what they think and meeting them afterward,” Gualco said.
It’s a sentiment felt by another quartet member, Simone Gualco who plays the violin.
“We really hope first of all people can go back home with a sense of beauty in their souls that’s the most important thing for us,” Gualco said. “Because we feel understand the beauty of what we play, and we really hope we can give them, or listeners, the same thing that we feel.”
After the performance, the audience can ask the musicians some questions during the artist forum.
