Texas A&M officials break ground on new $43 million STEM facility

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Texas A&M officials and community members broke ground on a new STEM facility at the Rellis campus Tuesday.

“This STEM facility is going to attract more industry to this area,” said Texas A&M Chancellor, John Sharp.

The building, which costs $43.4 million, will allow the university to partner with more outside entities. The STEM Education Center will be a place for students to learn the skills they need for careers in virtual reality, artificial intelligence, robotics and other emerging fields, according to Texas A&M.

“The stem education center is the first building paid for by the legislature CCAP program, that’s important because if you use permanent university funding you wouldn’t be allowed to bring industry in” “added Sharp.
