Celebrate Mardi Gras, party at Poche’s Seafood Shoppe & Restaurant
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – You don’t have to be in the “Big Easy” to celebrate Mardi Gras Tuesday.
One place to have a great time is Poche’s Seafood Shoppe & Restaurant in College Station. Chef and owner Johnny Poche will host a Mardi Gras celebration for the first time.
“I gotta live up to how I was raised,” Poche said. “I’m nervous, I’m excited, but I’m ready to show everybody here what it’s really about.”
The restaurant opens at 11 a.m. on Tuesday and will have happy-hour specials throughout the day along with several menu items to choose from including crawfish, gumbo flights and seafood platters.
The chef will also create his take on a beignet king cake.
“A little fried beignet and I’m dressing them up like you do king cakes,” Poche said. “There’s gonna be a baby somewhere in there and you’re gonna have to figure it out.”
Starting at 7 p.m., Randy Pavlock and The 24/7 Band will perform throughout the night.
“They’re the real deal,” restaurant manager Drew Meredith said. “He’s a touring musician, a sit-in-studio musician who’s played on 100 different albums. It’s going to be a good time.”
The band will play until 11 p.m., but Poche said he’s prepared to party all night.
“If people want to hang out, we’re gonna hang out,” Poche said. “We’re gonna have a good time.”
The restaurant is located at 3004 Holleman Drive South in College Station.
