Southwood Valley holds College & Career Day

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) -Friday morning, Southwood Valley Elementary School hosted a College and Career Fair for their 2nd through 4th grade students.

Departments from Texas A&M, Blinn, the FBI, and firefighters set up tables to showcase at the career fair.

Local businesses including Ranger Home Builders, Global Event Catering, and Rising F Barber were set up as well. Even Reveille X made an appearance.

The principal of Southwood Valley Elementary, Alison DeLuna, said the kids’ faces just lit up when they saw the different booths.

“We really want to expose our kids to all the different industries that we have. One of the questions that they’re asking is ‘What subject do I need to pursue if I want to be a doctor, or if I want to be a builder, and so just getting to learn more about our community and some of the different jobs out there,” said DeLuna. “This College and Career Fair is giving them these experiences that they’re going to remember for forever. These are the days they are going to think back on their elementary career. Hopefully, this will spark an interest in them that they didn’t know they had.”

DeLuna thanks the community for showing up and is excited about how this career fair will impact the kids.
