Navasota police: Motorcyclist reached speeds of over 120mph on Highway 6

NAVASOTA, Texas (KBTX) – The following release was shared with KBTX from the City of Navasota on Monday:

Around midnight on February 5, 2024, a Navasota Police Officer observed a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed, northbound on Highway 6. Upon entering the highway, the officer observed that the motorcycle had no working taillight. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop at which time the motorcycle driver accelerated to speeds over 120 mph. Navasota Police along with Grimes County Sheriff’s Department initiated a pursuit. As officers entered the College Station city limits, both terminated the pursuit.

The College Station Police Department, having been notified of the pursuit, were staged along the highway, and observed the motorcycle exit the highway and attempt to hide in a business parking lot. CSPD officers contacted the suspect and detained him until Navasota Police arrived.

The driver, Denham Roberts-Howden, 20, of Spring, TX, was charged with evading in a motor vehicle and booked into the Grimes County Jail.

The motorcycle was found to have a fictitious license plate, no insurance, expired registration, and no motorcycle license.

CSPD issued citations for the vehicle violations.
