Focus at Four: Congressman McCaul on local post office issues and the border
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – From issues with the postal service to the ongoing crisis at the border, our local U.S. House Representative has been busy.
The issues with the postal service have been going on for months in the Brazos Valley.
Within the last two weeks, Representative Al Green from the Houston area has addressed these issues.
McCaul says he is aware of the issues and feels the use of technology has been part of the problem.
“We’re fixing this right now. They have made changes. They stopped the technology. They’re adding humans to the system to improve the performance of the mail,” he said.
McCaul also says that holding the USPS accountable is a crucial part of lost or stolen mail and that manpower is the answer.
When addressing the border, he said that he hoped that something could be solved before the end of the 2024 election, but that what has been put up for approval has not been to the standard held for himself, nor his Republican constituents.
“I don’t think it’s going to stop the flow. I don’t think the magnet, the push-pull factor will change and that’s what we as House Republicans were looking for. None of HR2 and my Remain in Mexico bill, I passed with the Foreign Affairs Committee, it’s not in there,” said McCaul.
