Public library system and Rotary club provide Vox books, brings reading help home

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The Rotary Club of College Station held an event with the Public Library system in Bryan on Saturday.

This event introduced kids to a new way of reading by listening and following along with an audio version of their book attached to the cover.

VOX Books are now available for people to check out at Clara B. Mounce Public Library. The event included a carnival of games for the kids to play plus weather-themed story time with Shel Winkley and Kayleigh Thomas from the KBTX Pinpoint Weather Team.

Those who worked hard to make these books available, say VOX books are helpful for people of all ages.

“Immersive learning is very very important for children. So listening to the audio seeing the pages reading along with them the parents can read along as well and you can learn new languages. So this is not just great for kids. This is great for adults learning to read a different language. This is gonna be a game changer,” Jenny Stadler, a youth service librarian, said.

This event was made possible with a partnership between the Rotary and Reading program, ROAR, and the cities of Bryan and College Station.
