Large stretch of Highway 30 west of Huntsville closed due to high water

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Drivers to and from Bryan-College Station to Huntsville will have to find an alternate route to get to either city, thanks to water running over State Highway 30 just west of Huntsville.

Via DriveTexas.org, TxDOT reports water over the road near FM 2550 at both Rocky and McGary creeks, leading to a full closure of both the east and westbound lanes. According to the state-operated website, the closure may last through Thursday afternoon.

An alternate route may be FM 1791, but that road is also closed due to creek flooding farther downstream. Drivers trying to get to and from Huntsville and B/CS may have to take I-45 to Madisonville and SH-21/190 back to B/CS for the time being.

Additional rain (up to 3 inches or more) is possible through the remainder of the day Wednesday, with much drier weather expected by tonight and through the rest of the extended forecast.
