College Station ISD Board approves 2024-2025 academic calendar
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) -The College Station ISD Board of Trustees approved the Districtwide Educational Improvement Council’s (DEIC) recommendations for the 2024-2025 academic calendar during its regularly scheduled meeting on Jan. 23.
In the fall semester of 2023, the DEIC was organized to develop a calendar for the 2024-2025 school year. The committee was made up of districtwide representation, including teachers, parents, community members, campus administrators and support staff. The committee worked to construct the calendar using the 75,600 minutes needed to complete a school year required by law.
In its meetings, the committee discussed various components of developing the instructional calendars before arriving at a consensus. The 2024-2025 calendar recommendation presented to the Board of Trustees included:
the calendar features 172 instructional days for students;students begin school on Monday, Aug. 14, 2024;Labor Day, Sept. 2, 2024, is a student/staff holiday;the calendar has a Thanksgiving holiday (Nov. 25-29, 2024);a winter break is scheduled for students and staff (Dec. 20, 2024-Jan. 3, 2025);a five-day spring break is scheduled for March 10-14, 2025;Good Friday, April 18, 2025, is a student/staff holiday;the school year will end on May 22, 2025 for students;the calendar features four staff development/student holidays: Oct. 10-11, 2024; Jan. 6, 2025; and Feb. 17, 2025; andtwo early release days on Dec. 19, 2024 and May 22, 2025.
