Two killed in Washington County crash Monday

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) – A Brenham woman and an unidentified passenger were killed Monday when their car hydroplaned into oncoming traffic and was struck by an 18-wheeler, according to a release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The initial investigation shows a 2004 Ford Expedition, driven by Anita Goodrich, 59, from Brenham, was heading eastbound on U.S. Highway 290 just before 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22. Troopers said the Ford hydroplaned and crossed into the eastbound lanes and was struck by a 2013 Peterbilt 18-wheeler.

Goodrich was pronounced dead at the scene, and the passenger of the Ford was also pronounced deceased. Troopers did not identify the passenger.

The driver of the Peterbilt was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
