Focus at Four: Multiple medication shortages across the Brazos Valley
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Central Texas pharmacies are facing a daunting shortage of medication critical for managing pain and treating ADHD.
Hydrocodone and Adderall are just the latest in a series of medications that pharmacies are lacking.
Bessem Oben, Director of Clinical Operation at Goldstar Pharmacy, joined First News at Four to speak about the effects that we are seeing locally.
Oben says the impacts are being felt here at home and with those who are most vulnerable.
“We have a lot of patients, pediatric, up to adult, especially the hospice population depend on these medications.”
Oben said there is an increased need for Adderall so keeping up with the demand is a challenge. Also, some shortages are caused by materials used to make the drugs.
