United Way announces Farmers Fight Night

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – A new, MMA-style event is coming to Aggieland this spring, and it supports a good cause.

Farmers Fight Night is hoping to raise money for the United Way by holding an amateur boxing event at Reed Arena.

The President of Farmers Fight Night, Chase Johnson, and President and CEO of the United Way, Peggi Gross, joined First News at Four Monday to announce the event.

“We have about 28 students right now that are training,” Johnson said. “Most of them are amateur boxers, they’ve never thrown a punch in their life, but a lot of them have other combative experiences otherwise, and they’re getting a lot of their technique down, defensive, offensive actions, and a lot of that is done under the supervision of BCS Boxing Club, under Coach Carl Perry there. All of that is coming into fruition April 4th at Reed Arena.”

Tickets will be available for purchase soon.
