Texas A&M Center for Coffee Research and Education named to list of research centers making a difference
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The Texas A&M Center for Coffee Research and Education was recently named to the list of top 20 graduate research centers that are making a real difference.
The list consisted of graduate research centers that positively impact the community around them and even the world.
Eric Brenner, the Assistant Director of the Center for Coffee Research, joined News 3 at 6 Tuesday to discuss the new ranking.
Brenner also recently took a group of students to Costa Rica for a study abroad program. He called the trip a first of its kind.
“In Central America, there are three threats the coffee farmers have to deal with: low coffee prices, climate change and coffee diseases. So our role at the center is to work with these coffee farmers to do trainings and to introduce genetic material that is more resistant to climate change,” Brenner said.
