Volunteer Fire Department works to start phase one of new fire station
NORTH ZULCH, Texas (KBTX) – The North Zulch Fire Department is ready for bid requests for a new fire station. The goal, is to have phase one completed this year.
The fire station has been an effort from department leaders to fundraise and ensure they can build a complete station. Currently, Chief Tony Clay says the trucks are parked covered but outdoors. This can cause complications in extreme temperatures. Chief Clay says the bids are for phase one which is a bay. This would be an enclosed building where they can park response vehicles. After this is complete he says they will build from there.
“Our second phase would be the meeting room and when we have a fundraiser and food can be prepared and handed out into the bay area where people can sit around and eat,” Chief Clay said.
The funds used for phase one came from events the department has held and donations from community members. The group will be hosting their annual fundraiser and cookoff on Feb. 3 at 11757 5th Street.
