‘If you don’t have to get on our roadways, please don’t,’ TxDOT shares road conditions during freeze
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – If you’ve been out on the roads, there’s a chance you might have seen the Texas Department of Transportation.
Crews are still out in these frigid temps to monitor and treat roadways, bridges and overpasses. Pictured is Washington Co. MNT heading out to treat the roads. Please remember to give them room to work and thank them for their efforts! #BeSafeDriveSmart pic.twitter.com/FcxU2ihCTP

The agency has been out laying salt on roadways, but spokesman Bobby Colwell said road conditions are still slippery.
According to him, there were several crashes on Monday due to the icy roads, and he urges people who don’t need to travel to stay off the roads.
If you do have to drive, Colwell says to slow down, keep your distance, and be aware of the TxDOT salt trucks driving along the road.
”If you don’t have to get on our roadways, please don’t. but if you do have to get out there, use extra, extra time, extra precaution,” he said.
If you are involved in a crash, the most important thing to do is stay in your car while dialing 911, Colwell said.
