16-year-old arrested for shooting death of College Station native in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, Lousiana (KBTX) – New Orleans police say a 16-year-old will be charged with the murder of a popular Tacoma, Washington business owner who was visiting New Orleans with his husband when he was murdered earlier this month.

The teen was arrested on Friday, according to a news release from NOPD.

Jacob Carter, a College Station native, was gunned down on January 5 around 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Bourbon and Kerlerec Streets.

“The 16-year-old suspect was arrested in Jefferson Parish and is being held on unrelated charges. He currently has an outstanding warrant for second-degree murder from NOPD. Once released from Jefferson Parish, he will be transported to Orleans Parish and booked on second-degree murder,” said police.

A GoFundMe is rapidly growing for Carter’s husband and their bagel shop business.
