40th annual Keeping The Dream Alive celebration planned for next week

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – January 12th is the 40th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Keeping the Dream Alive Celebration: “Forward Forever, Backwards Never” event.

The event is from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Lincoln Recreation Center in College Station.

The event will have a speaker, singing, and praise, and will honor local educators and volunteers.

The center supervisor, Cheletia Johnson, says they host this event to remember Dr. King and what he stood for as well as to remember Lilian Jeanne Clark Robinson who started this event 40 years ago.

”It’s just a way for us to come together, be in unity, celebrate this man that made so many sacrifices for this county, for this nation, and just have a good time with each other in solidarity, ya know, in unity,” said Johnson.

The event will be open to the public for anyone to attend.
