Navasota High School Theatre Company to present ‘Clue’
NAVASOTA, Texas (KBTX) – The Navasota High School Theatre Company will soon need your help solving a murder mystery. It’s putting on the play “Clue” starting Thursday, and it will keep you on your toes while making you laugh, according to the show’s director Stephanie FitzSimon.
The play is inspired by the board game and the1980s movie starring Tim Curry. It invites the audience into the Boddy Mansion where six guests gather after receiving a letter. Soon after their arrival, the host is mysteriously killed and everyone becomes a suspect.
For those familiar with the game and/or movie, Stephanie FitzSimon said they can expect some surprises but the classic characters will stay the same.
The audience will see the butler, Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock and Colonel Mustard.
The butler, played by Freya Adney, welcomes the six dinner guests and tries to help them process the events that led up to the party. At the same time, he makes it known that he didn’t have a hand in the murder.
McKenzie FitzSimon plays Mrs. Peacock, the wife of a senator. She also works to maintain her innocence in the crime.
“Clue” was made into a stage play about 10 years ago and has become a popular high school production, according to Stephanie FitzSimon.
“We all like to do it around Halloween a lot of times, and it just sets the mood and gives you a great opportunity to get into the Halloween spirit but also have a lot of fun,” Stephanie FitzSimon said.
In addition to the stage props, the show’s production elements will set the tone quickly. The director said there will be a lot of light and set changes.
“We’re constantly making and painting things to add to it to make it look really great,” Stephanie FitzSimon said.
“Clue” will run Thursday and Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Brosig Performing Arts Center located at 105 Brosig Avenue in Navasota.
Tickets are $10 for students and staff and $12 for the general public. Those can be purchased the night of at the door or at Navasota High’s front office.
Stephanie FitzSimon said the show is family friendly and is great for anyone 8 years old and up.
