71 years of celebrating 4th of July at Mt. Zion’s Community Center
CALDWELL, Texas (KBTX) – The Mt. Zion’s Community Center celebrated Independence Day with a barbecue feast and raffle.
This is their 71st 4th of July celebration where the luncheon has been passed from generation to generation.
This year about 250 community members came together to eat BBQ, enjoy each other’s company and play games.
There was also a raffle consisting of prizes like hats, a Roku TV and an evaporative air cooler.
“It’s just a way for the community to invite loved ones and former people from the community to come back and just celebrate with us and have a good time and fellowship,” said the president of Mt. Zion’s Community Center, Chester Canady.
Jamie Thrash, one of the daughters of one of the founding members, has attended this celebration for the last 40 years.
“What’s special about this event is the family and all the gathering and just having fun with everybody. It has been amazing,” said Thrash.
The Mt. Zion’s Community Center thanks all their sponsors who donated to help make their annual 4th of July celebration happen.
