16-year-old killed when storms blow down home under construction
MAGNOLIA, Texas (KBTX) – A storm-related incident on Tuesday killed a teen working on a home construction project in Montgomery County.
It happened just after noon when a strong line of storms moved from the Brazos Valley and into Southeast Texas.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says multiple agencies responded to the 33000 block of Willow Heights Lane in Magnolia when a home under construction collapsed while workers were on site.
“Preliminary investigation has determined that the workers noticed the house began to shift during the thunderstorm and all but one were able to exit before the house collapsed. Upon their arrival, first responders quickly worked and located the trapped male. It is with profound sadness that we report a 16-year-old juvenile male was not able to exit the structure and was pronounced deceased on the scene,” said Specialist Caleb Cole with the sheriff’s office.
Authorities say the victim was confirmed to be an employee of the construction company and was authorized to be on site.
Next of kin has been notified of this incident, however, the juvenile’s name will not be released, said the sheriff’s office.
The name of the company involved was also not publicly shared.
